Living in my memory…
Christmas had always been a large celebration within the Weasley household. One which Fred personally found much joy in. It wasn't the presents, no. It was the magic which came with it. The movies, the food, everyone in one place together for him and his brother to prank. Though, as they had gotten older the pranks had to go on the back burner. They were both married, and had their own families. But, his love of Christmas lived on within his own home. A love he hoped he had passed onto his children.
Today was the family Christmas movie, and it was Fred's turn to pick. It had become a tradition within their own small family of Weasley's that every Friday night they would watch a different movie as a family. Each week somebody different picked so it was never the same movie. However, whenever Fred's turn rolled around he was sure everybody knew what his selection would be. the only predictable part of this unpredictable man.
Walking into the house, his hands were full of food, decorations and small kickbacks from his shop with his twin brother. Nothing that could cause too much damage- just keep the beauty of joy burning bright within his children. He laughed when he was bundled on by the younger children, dropping the bags down onto the ground while scooping them all up in his arms, and spinning them around.
“I've been taken hostage! Oh, how will I ever escape?! Quick, someone calls the beautiful Princess to save me!” He called out in a fake terrified tone, grinning as his gorgeous wife stepped into the room, a hand rested on her swollen stomach. Every Time he saw her, he fell in love all over again.
Throwing Allie and Alfie over his shoulders, he swiftly moved across the room toward his wife, embracing her and pulling her into a kiss. Chuckling he heard Allie and Alfie make disgusted sounds. “Quick, Princess, while the bandits are disgusted by our love. Let's lock them up!” He called out dramatically, passing Alfie to Katie as he threw Allie into the air, catching her and starting to tickle her. Her laughter caused his heart to swell.
Dropping onto the Sofa, he waited for his wife to sit beside him before pulling the blanket over them, a wave of his wand had the snacks beside them, followed by the filming of the lights. The small fairlights twinkled around the room, like small fireworks exploding with Christmas joy. He had Allie on one side, Alfie on the other with his eldest on the other side of Katie. Everyone he would die for, in one room.
“Are we all ready to watch the best movie to ever exist? You know, this movie was based on me. True story.” He exclaimed. Sure, it was a white lie. And Katie knew it was but she played along because the joy that lit up in his youngest daughter's eyes was joy enough for the both of them.
“Is it Home Alone again?” Ivy asked, laughing softly as she pulled the blanket tighter around her. “It's Dad. Of course, it's Home Alone.” George Jr replied, followed by his dramatic eye roll, pulling Alfie onto his lap so that Katie and Fred could sit beside each other. Fred instantly closed the gap between them, his arm draping over Katie's shoulder so she could lean into him.
“You're making me sound predictable, Georgie,” Fred replied, pretending to clutch his fake pearls out of mock disgust, only earning another eye roll from his eldest son and a giggle from his youngest.
“Put it on daddy! Put it on!” Alfie insisted, practically bouncing up and down on George's lap. Fred grinned, before waving his wand once more. The videotape slipping into the VCR player. The first few seconds of the movie started to play, and Fred truly felt like he was where he was meant to be.
