Out of the frying pan into the fire
Leaving Woodsboro seemed like a good idea at the time. Finally escaping the killers which had seemingly haunted Audrey's every move. She had managed to convince Brooke to go with her. For a romantic but not a couple getaway. Audrey knew they were an item. But Brooke? Nah, she wasn't ready to admit it yet. She had decided to go to Derry, a throwaway joke that maybe their next adventure could include a killer clown hadn't gone down well with Brooke. But she had still agreed to come; apparently, the fashion scene was good there. And that always got her girl's attention.
They had been there for a little over a week now, and though initially, everything had been just fine. The two had frequented the diners in the small town, and Audrey had allowed her girl to drag her throughout the stores even if she did complain. And she had to admit, the sex had been good. But as the long days turned into longer nights- the two started to notice the town just wasn't what it seemed. Everyone seemed to still be looking over their shoulders. Whispering about some dude named Henry. Audrey had initially tried to ignore it, that was until one night when the girls were on their way back to the hotel they saw a group of people dressed in an array of fucked up clothing choices. Audrey gently pushed Brooke behind her, rubbing her chin momentarily before speaking up.
"What the fuck do you guys want?" She demanded, her voice rasping ever so slightly as she spoke. Her gaze shifted down to notice the weapons they were holding, and quickly her mindset went from trying to force them to move- to running away and getting as far away from this town as they could.
"Shit..." Audrey breathed, grabbing Brooke's hand now "Fucking run." She whispered into her girlfriend's ear before breaking into a run. Their shrill laughter now echoed through the chill of the night air. Audrey pushed Brooke in front of her, looking over her shoulder to see that they had started to follow- the group deciding to break off. They were going to try and close them in.
"Shit, shit- Look out!" Audrey called out, seeing one coming from the shadows, throwing a punch which had managed to land them square in the nose. A sickening crack satisfied Audrey as she pushed the girl down another street. She had no fucking clue where they were going. All she knew is that they needed to get away from the town. Whether by vehicle or by foot.
Sliding to a halt down an alley with a locked gate, Audrey swore to herself- hearing as the group closed in. She looked to Brooke, and then the gate. She knew she had to make a decision here, only one of them would live. And it was easy who it would be. Picking up her girlfriend, she lifted her, despite her demands to put her down, and managed to get her high enough to push her over to the other side. In that moment, an agonising pain shot through her as a cleaver was swung into her side, sending her down to the ground. She looked up at Brooke, blood starting to pool in her mouth, choking out her last words.
"I love you."
