Run Baby Run…

Don't you ever look back...

(Written as Ebony Rosewood)

“What would you do if you knew you could not fail?”

The question her mother had asked all those years ago echoed within her mind while the remained in polite conversation with Andromeda Black, conversations always remained polite at pureblood events, nothing past pleasantries. Though, she could only guess the daughter’s of the sacred 28 grew lonley, their lives all chosen for them before even entering the world. It was a sad reality of pureblood society, one she was entangled up within herself. This very party being thrown to congratulate her for an engagement she didn’t want, let alone even knew about until she had walked into the event and the announcement made. She had managed to escape periodically, but naturally, they forced her back inside to act like everything was okay. Even though, deep down it wasn’t. Oh, it wasn’t.

The question kept resurfacing within her flooded thoughts. It wasn’t often Ebony held back. That had been a habit learned from a certain Gryffindor she had grown up with. One who only a year ago she had fallen so easily into a whirlwind romance that had engulfed every single part of her life. A Gryffindor who knew stood on the opposite side of the room with a heart just as broken as hers…Broken because of her.

The very thought of it shattered her to the core. Her Romeo, her heart and soul- her very air had been ripped away from her in a single sweep. Pushed into another atmosphere and ordered to breathe a different air, one which poisoned the very lungs they claimed to be saving. Her ocean gaze landed on Sirius Black, every fiber of her being burning, yearning to close the distance between the two of them. To walk into his embrace and runaway into the night.

She knew it was dangerous, leaving everything they had behind and running toward the unknown. But atleast if they did, they could remain together. She wouldn’t be forced into the bed of another man while he was forced to stand idly by. The very thought of it had her heart igniting into a wave of adrenaline. It seemed crazy to those around them who were older, wiser. But to the young teenagers, the crazy chance was worth the small risk. More than the safe option.

That was simply the answer to the question, she would run away with Sirius Black. She would leave this life behind and give herself to him fully. She wanted to so badly. Take his hand right now and leave during her engagement part, take the floo network to the furthest point this possibly could and run…But, she knew if they failed, it would only have them separated, she would never see her Romeo again, locked away up upon the balcony while he was outcast…Staying meant losing him, failure meant losing him..Success was a small flickering flame within the hurricane.

Yet she would choose the flame, every single time, she would choose the flame, his flame. She politely excused herself from the conversation. Slipping through the crowd, heart pounding as she closed the distance between the lovers. Only stopping one infront of him, her hand finding his, thankful to be hidden in the shadow of candlelight as she asked her question to the one person she would throw everything away for.

“Run away with me?”

She begged, her body already aimed toward the very door they would leave through. The door to their freedom.

“Please, Sirius. Run away with me.”
