All Alone
She had to get out of there, as far away as she could run which had landed her in the middle of a forest clearing. Her white dress sprawled out around her as she fell to her knees, unable to stop the tears any longer. A soft sob escaped past her glossed lips followed by louder, mournful cries. Tears rolled down her cheeks leaving streaks of mascara in their path. Alone she sat, face buried in her hands in an attempt to drown out her sobs.
It had come out of nowhere, the announcement that she was to marry Lucius within the year. They all celebrated an engagement that the bride-to-be wasn’t aware she was a part of. She had tried to argue back. Beg her father behind the privacy of a locked door to rethink his decision. Pleading that she simply did not love him, that her heart already belonged to a man- one who also came from a pureblood family. But her pleas had only fallen on deaf ears, earning her a slap around the face with such force she could feel the bruises starting to kiss her porcelain face.
She felt like she had been screaming and everyone had chosen not to listen to her. Sirius had been so upset with the announcement he too had walked off, leaving her to fight the battle alone. And, she just couldn’t any more. So she had run, out the back door, through the gardens into the forest which surrounded Malfoy Manor. She had heard numerous voices calling out to her, demanding she stop be she refused to listen. Her father’s had been the loudest of all. The vindictiveness behind his tone was enough to send a shiver down her spine.
Feeling the first droplets of rain hitting her skin, she slowly removed her hands from her face, looking up toward the canopy of trees, feeling the earth cry with her. Her sobs suddenly became a loud, ear-piercing scream. One full of anger, pain, heartbreak and loneliness. Because everything she had gone through- it had once again landed her alone, lost within her pain-filled thoughts and screaming out to the emptiness for someone, anybody to hear her.
”Why are you punishing me, what did I do?!” She screamed to the sky, hoping, praying that a reply would carry on the wind and comfort her. Yet all she felt was more chilled droplets kissing her skin, chilling her down to the bone. Her dress became heavy with not only the burdens of her family name but also the water which weighed it down. Like the earth was trying to visualise just how much pain she was in.
She remained seated in silence, looking up at the darkening canopy when she heard movement from behind her. Shifting her head toward the noise, she held her breath. I waited to see if she heard it again. At first, she had thought it was her imagination until she heard it once more. Hope rose through her body, believing it was Sirius who had run after her. She rose from the ground, pushing her now-soaked copper curls away from her face, her clothing stuck to her body from the now heavy downpour.
”Sirius?” She called out into the darkness, squinting her eyes when she saw movement in the trees, her heart rate spiking from hope until she saw two silvery eyes illuminate in the darkness, making her heart rate race from fear instead. She had tried to step away but he moved quicker, grabbing her and pinning her up against the tree. She let out a cry for help, though she knew it would be in vain before trying to push him off, trying to free her wrists from his grasp.
”You know, It’s rude to run out of our engagement dinner, Ebony.”
He whispered in her heart, his voice a mixture of amusement, mocking and the usual cold tenor that coated his words. The thick venom caused her to squirm underneath his grasp, another desperate cry echoing through the forest.
”It was not our engagement party, and you must be as delusional as my father if you believe I would willingly marry you!”
She spat back, venom within her voice now, glaring at him before once more trying to force her hands free. She felt his grip tighten as he pulled her away from the tree before slamming her back into it again, the air in her lungs being forced out past her lips. She gasped for air just as he started to growl out his next sentence.
”You can say whatever you want. But it won’t change the fact that you will be my wife. And you will belong to me."
He hissed, letting go of one of her wrists now as he grabbed her chin, forcing her to look at him. ”Best get used to my company, Ebony. ‘Til death do us part is an extremely long time..”
her blood turned to ice.
